Hardwick Estate rents its rustic riverside camping field, Chestnut Paddock, to individuals and groups for camping. The field has direct river access and there are two fire pits: one of which has log seating, perfect for gathering round the camp fire of an evening. Fresh drinking water is provided. Facilities include four eco-friendly toilets with wash basins, a shower enclosure for anyone wishing to bring a portable camping shower, and a washing up area. There is no electricity.
Our camping field is popular with families for get-away-from-it-all camping breaks as well as with schools, Scouts and other activity groups (such as those taking part in the Duke Of Edinburgh Award scheme). It is also used by local groups and charities who are hosting weekend or week-long workshops or events. Every group has exclusive use of the field, which is priced at a flat rate of £280 per night for 2025 season with a reduced rate of £224 for Scouts, Hardwick residents and charities. 2026-7 will be charged at £300 with a reduced rate of £240 for Scouts, Hardwick residents and charities and from 2028, the rates will be £315 and £252. Commercial events are allowed on negotiation with the Estate only.
In order to preserve the peaceful nature of the campsite and surrounding areas, no amplified music is permitted. Please note that we no longer host wedding events.

Fresh organic vegetables and fruit can be purchased from Tolhurst Organic’s Lin’s Veg Shed by the entrance to the Estate, should you wish to make the most of what the Estate has to offer during your stay.
